I conclude it is likely a small coil is inside the inductive pick up assembly. That is a very low impedance, a virtual short. Update: I measured the inductive leads on mine (also a Sears) and got about 1.2 ohms using a digital DVM. I think you can still purchase the inductive pick up with power leads as an assembly from searspartsdirect. Try turning the inductive pick up the other way, arrow pointing opposite direction.ģ. The inductive pick up maybe magnetically coupled, one coil on the spring clamp side and another coil to the Molex connector leads. I don't know the value, but there should be something appreciable. If the light has a four pin Molex nylon connector for inductive pick up and power, try a continuity test on the inductive leads. I believe it has magnets inside which if dropped or jolted enough could damage the pick up unit. Have you tried using it on a known good ignition system to verify it still works correctly? The inductive pick up is a sensitive device.
